Some of our past and current projects

Here is a taster of some of our past and current projects, showing you the type of work we get involved in and the way in which we approach it.

Tyntesfeild National Trust Property, Bristol

When a number of mature Cedar trees in the Gardens of Tyntesfeild House died as a result of honey fungus we were commisioned to fell them, under the grounds of safety and also to reduce the speed of the honey fungus. Once felled The Trust utilised the timber in various building and creative projects with-in the grounds - one of which was a raised board-walk around the gardens as part of an out door contemporary art work trail that was built by volunteers.

Penny Brohn Cancer Support Centre, Pill

There was great disappointment at Penny Brohn Cancer Support Centre when a prominent Cedar tree in the gardens died. The tree had to be felled as it was overhanging a car parking area and it was felt that utilising the trees timber as a summer house -  to be used  enjoyed by residents of the centre was a fitting tribute to its contribution to the site. We milled the timber to a cutting list provided by the Architect who was overseeing the construction.

Lake House Estate, Salisbury

Due to the development of an area of the Estate, a number of trees needed to be removed due to their close proximity to buildings. The Estate recognised the potential value and income opportunity in the timber and commissioned us to fell and mill a variety of species of trees. A portion of the oak was harvested was designated to be built into for a traditional green oak, framed wood store to keep and dry timber prior to is sale.

The Old Trout Extention, Herefordshire

Having moved into a new house with the requirements of a new extension in order to accommodate all the family, we set about felling and milling a number of local grown oak trees. Having previously designed the traditional green oak frame we worked to a cutting list, producing all of its component parts and with the expert help of Jim Symons the frame was built and installed - it now functions as our kitchen.

Garden Studio, Herefordshire

A customer was able to utilise an oak tree and some conifers on the property by incorporating them into the build of a new studio space at their home. We milled the tree into the components parts that we later built into the roof trusses, purlins and support structure. It proved to be a cost affect way for the customer to add some quality materials into the project that would otherwise have been cost prohibative.

Milling Joinery Timber For Furniture Makers

A Bristol furniture maker who had procured logs from local tree surgery contractors required a batch of interesting timber milling for his business. The logs included Spalted Beech, Yew, and quarter sawing some Burred Oak and London Plane.
